About Destination Cafe

We’re a family own business. Traditional Hong Kong Cantonese cooking styles . One of the best destination for food.

Located at 451 W 31st St, Chicago, IL 60616, Destination Cafe operates as a chinese restaurant serving Chicago in Illinois. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Chicago; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Illinois are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. The most common schedule is 11:30 am–9:30 pm. It is closed on Wednesday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Destination Cafe at (312) 624-9745; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

Google shows 5.0 out of 5 based on 3 reviews. With so few reviews the score can move quickly; it will become more reliable as more customers leave feedback.

Chicago is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Chicago follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This restaurant features a long menu of lesser-seen Cantonese dishes, both famous examples of Cha Chaan Teng (Hong Kong style diner) comfort food (i.e. Baked Portuguese Chicken Rice) as well as true rareties representing local β€œprovincial” Pearl River Delta cooking. In particular, the Shunde specialties stand out. It reconfirms that for many years some of the most adventurous and off-the-beaten path Cantonese food in Chicago could be found south of the highway (south of formal β€œChinatown”) hidden in the residential area of Bridgeport like this one (Wing Yip before it moved to Halsted, was another example). Unlike its peers in the area, portion size here is geared more towards individual diner dining rather than traditional β€œfamily sharing”. That decision perplexes me a bit. Nonetheless I found the clean modern look to be quite pleasant and the service to be very attentive and kind.
